3pm to 6pm Monday thru Friday

score:

Located in lovely Frelard or Ballmont, whatever you would like to call that murky area between Ballard and Fremont. The Ballard Bar and Grill is a huge space with many games to play, pool, darts, video. Happy hour is offered from 3pm to 6pm, but that is the only information the bartender would divulge. She was too flustrated (my mother's word for being both flustered and frustrated) to talk about the specials.

Ladies and Gentlemen! We have a winner! Not only is the Baronoff one of the finest dives in Seattle, but it is the longest happy hour we here at happyhourinseattle.com have ever seen! One old coot tried to tell us that you had to stay for the entire time to enjoy the happy hours prices, but that was just the liquor talking. Don’t be fooled by the quietness of the front portion of Baronoff, back in the bar is where the party is happening. On this sunny Wednesday afternoon the bar was full, but there was plenty of space available at the cocktails tables surrounding the room. The Baronoff has plenty of parking outside the back entrance, a calendar lists the regulars’ birthdays and an upright piano placed non-strategically next to the pay phone.

The service was good, but not near as fun was when my friend Patti Southard worked there. The clientele was a even mix of drinkers and eaters and drinkers. Tommy’s is a nightclub, so it is the perfect place to go for a U District Happy Hour. Nobody thinks of it. But this old location of much loved Lox, Stock and Barrel, offers a good happy hour. Not with the $3 appetizers during the Happy hour, but a $3 burger and fries the whole time the kitchen is open. The mozzarella sticks were really good, but there were only three of them. So it seems that Tommy’s takes their regular menu and cuts the size in half, justifying the half price. Sooooo, I guess you can call it a special.

Wild Rose

3-7pm daily

score:

The Wild Rose is the only lesbian bar in Seattle, and has been owned and operated by women for over 20 years. Women! Hear her roar? The service was great even for us straight chicks, and my companions had so much fun they stayed long after happy hour. On this stormy Thursday there were seats available, but then the Sonics were down the street in the playoffs and the town was at a standstill. Ladies, (and gents) if you go to the Wild Rose, remember only one at a time in the restroom.

Until last fall, Wingmasters was Ebb's, a favorite Ballard dive. Now it is remodeled and drawing a regular working class crowd. The bar was happening on this Tuesday evening, and has lots of specials on, what else, chicken wings. If you are lucky, you may get one of the sidewalk tables.
