Celtic Swell

2722 Alki Ave. SW
Seattle, WA 98116

2069327935

4-6 Monday thru Friday

score:

Celtic Swell offers a beautiful view of the Sound and can be enjoyed on the outside patio. Celtic Swell is an Irish bar , and you can tell by the menu items--Tullamore Dew and soda bread and of course Harp and Guinness. On this sunny Thursday, the crowd was sparse, but then it was Cinco de Mayo. Things may have been different if this had been St. Patrick’s Day. Celtic Swill offers $1 off all drafts.

Dad Watsons

3pm thru 6pm daily

score:

Dad Watsons is part of the McMenamin family based out of Oregon, one of three in Seattle (Six Arms and McMenamins). They make their own wines, ales and liguors. This Wednesday night Dad's was busy, but not full. What makes Dad's special is that it is very kid friendly. A space in the back is ok for kids to enjoy their own kind of happy hour with ma and pa.

Eastlake Bar and Grill offers great happy hour. Although the bar has ample space, it was full this sunny, fall Thursday. But happy hour is offered throughtout the restaurant and outdoor deck. No smoking is allowed in the restaurant, but okay in the bar. Eastlake has a mixed crowd of neighborhood regulars sitting at the bar and young hipsters sitting at the tables.

Noon-6 daily

score:

At 3:00 on this beautiful sunny Wednesday afternoon, I was the only customer. Image! My friendly bartender, Alex, said that Luau doesn't get so busy at happy hour that there isn’t space available, especially on the out door patio. The food Luau for happy hour is items discounted from their regular menu. This reviewer had the Guava BBQ baby back ribs and they were killer having just the perfect amount of spice and for $5 a plate, I’ll be back. Try a key lime pie cocktail, just for the froth of it.

score:

More diner than bar, this place is the perfect place for the happy hour clandestine meeting, if you have to bring the kids. Who'd believe this innocent, funky little cafe would offer a bitchin' happy hour. But it does, especially in the summer on their outdoor deck. Not in the mood for alcohol? They offer killer homemade shakes.

score:

Peso’s has the busiest and most popular happy hour on Queen Anne. This sunny Thursday night there was no room left at the bar, but some tables were available. Peso's offers over 24 items on their happy hour menu, some of the favorites being lamb taquitos and crab & avacado spring rolls. The decor of Peso’s is old world Mexican with many “Dia de Los Muertos” artifacts hanging from the walls. Music is supplied by a computer with 7,000 songs, with each bartender having their own playlist. Three TVs were broadcasting three different sporting events. The service was fast and friendly and happy hour is available in the restaurant, so it’s kid friendly. Their are 24 items on the happy hour menu, ranging from appetizers to soups and salads. Seattle, WA 98126

(206) 937-1600

3-6pm M-F

score:

This sunny Thursday there were few patrons at Salty’s happy hour. Which is unfortunate, because Salty’s offers the best view of the Sound and the Seattle skyline in West Seattle. And the happy hour prices are nice to look at as well. Salty’s offers some of regular menu items at discount prices, not just a few appetizers. Happy hour is offered in the cafe and patio, where kids are welcomed. During the summer months, happy hour revelers can take the Water Taxi to Alki from Seattle’s Waterfront. No reason to drive.

On this sunny Wednesday afternoon, Tacos Guaymas had plenty of seating. With the outdoor seating and one whole wall that’s open to the outdoors, I doubt that is seldom the case.
