Happy Hour Reviews
Ballard Bar and Grill
4300 Leary Way
Seattle, WA 98107
2067829024
3pm to 6pm Monday thru Friday
score:
Located in lovely Frelard or Ballmont, whatever you would like to call that murky area between Ballard and Fremont. The Ballard Bar and Grill is a huge space with many games to play, pool, darts, video. Happy hour is offered from 3pm to 6pm, but that is the only information the bartender would divulge. She was too flustrated (my mother's word for being both flustered and frustrated) to talk about the specials.

Baronoff
8549 Greenwood
Seattle, WA 98103
206-782-9260
6am thru 7pm daily
score:
Ladies and Gentlemen! We have a winner! Not only is the Baronoff one of the finest dives in Seattle, but it is the longest happy hour we here at happyhourinseattle.com have ever seen! One old coot tried to tell us that you had to stay for the entire time to enjoy the happy hours prices, but that was just the liquor talking. Don’t be fooled by the quietness of the front portion of Baronoff, back in the bar is where the party is happening. On this sunny Wednesday afternoon the bar was full, but there was plenty of space available at the cocktails tables surrounding the room. The Baronoff has plenty of parking outside the back entrance, a calendar lists the regulars’ birthdays and an upright piano placed non-strategically next to the pay phone.

3pm thru 6pm daily
score:
Dad Watsons is part of the McMenamin family based out of Oregon, one of three in Seattle (Six Arms and McMenamins). They make their own wines, ales and liguors. This Wednesday night Dad's was busy, but not full. What makes Dad's special is that it is very kid friendly. A space in the back is ok for kids to enjoy their own kind of happy hour with ma and pa.

3pm thru 7pm
score:
In addition to the regular happy hour, The Dubliner offers various specials everyday. The Dubliner was busy, but not so full the service wasn’t good. If you find the place is too full for your liking, check out the little lounge on the south side of the bar, it’s like a living room with sofas and cushy chairs. The Dubliner has sidewalk seating, and one of the most happening Seattle happy hours, with not only the happy hour specials listed here, but other ones that vary daily.

George and Dragon

Seattle, WA 98103

3pm thru 6pm Monday thru Friday
score:
Ladies! Lots of men at this happy hour! The George and Dragon has been in business eight and half years, and from the size of the crowd Fremont happy hour revelers have heard. While Seattle has many Irish pubs, this is a true English pub. George is the patron saint of England like Patrick is of Ireland. The dragon symbolizes the evil he conquered. You can see pictures of George and the dragon on the west wall. So come here, conquer some pints and enjoy people with colorful accents o the British Isles. And they have a pool table. Side note: George and dragon offers televised soccer games from the other side of the pond whenever there offered.

High Dive

Seattle, WA 98103
206-632-0212
3pm thru 7pm daily
score:
High dive was previously Suite G, but since April’s Fools day has become Fremont’s newest BBQ spot. High Dive offers delicious BBQ on happy hour special, and aims to be the place in Fremont for BBQ and Rock ‘n Roll. Which is just what The Center of the Universe needs. On this pretty spring Wednesday night, the crowd was sparse, the excellent pulled pork not yet revealed to Fremont happy hour revellers. High Dive offers their BBQ sandwiches Fremont Style, which means on a corn tortilla.

Open only since August of 2004, Nectar is quickly becoming one of Fremont's most happening spots, with three spots to play-the outside deck (yes, there are heaters), the main bar area and an upstairs annex, complete with pool table and hidden large table for all your friends. The $5 pizzas come in seven varieties, all yummy, unique and ig enough for two.

Norm's
460 N.36th St
Seattle, WA 98103
206-547-1417
4-7 daily
score:
Norm’s is a cozy place offering food and drinks all in a nonsmoking environment. Most patrons seemed to be here for he food, and while the place was busy, there was room available. And it is a good thing the service was good, because if you wanted to complain to Norm he might bite you. He is a young golden retriever. The happy hour food and drink specials were offered according to the day of the week. Friday, the day of this review, the special was domestic bottles for $2.50 and fish and chips for $5. But, the fish and chips came with regular potato chips and not fries. Potato chlps that are made from scratch daily mind you, but I think most people are expecting fries with fish and chips.

3pm to 6pm
score:
The Park Pub is a quick stroll from the Woodlawn Park Zoo, and has a homey feel with house-like furniture and lamps. On this hot, sunny Thursday was plenty of room at the tables, and outside deck, but the bar was full with neighborhood regulars. And they were actually telling jokes! A lost art indeed.

score:
The Pig and the Whistle has a small bar, but happy hour is offered throughout the restaurant. No appetizers are offered during happy hour, but regular menu prices are quite reasonable. Will, the ex-Chicagoan bartender, is twice as friendly as most and is very happy that the Pig and the Whistle went smoke free January 1st, 2005. The sunny Wednesday the crowd was sparse, but happy.

9 to 11 pm Monday thru Friday
score:
Mama Providencia, the matriarch of this family owned restaurant, comes from Sicily every year and re-dos the menu. But she doesn't touch the happy hour menu, because it is perfect! Seven for seven, means you have your choice of seven antipasto dishes whwen you buy a glass of wine or a signature cocktails. A great deal and a great meal, but not much of party atmosphere. This would be agreat place to bring family or a date, but not you Frat brothers. Oh, Pontevecchio is Italian for next to the old bridge.

Sully’s have been a Phinney Ridge Saloon since the 1920s and has the look and feel of an Irish cottage. In addition to the daily happy hour, Sully's has happy hour all day on Sundays. On this hot, Thursday evening, Sully’s was pretty full, but there was space available on the outdoor deck. Sully’s doesn’t offer food specials during happy hour, but has very reasonable priced pub grub at all times, Like $2 grilled cheese sandwiches and $2.50 for a hot dog.

score:
ToST’s happy hour was livelly, but not so crowed there wouldn’t be room for you and yours. The lighting is pefect, not dark, not bright. The big happy hour seller at ToST is the Tona beer and the grinder sandwich sold together for $5. A grinder, in case your not hip, is a oven baked sandwich with lots of vegetables, your choice of meat and Italian dressing.

Triangle Lounge

Seattle, WA 98103

3pm thru 6pm daily
score:
The Triangle has been the center of The Center of The Universe since the 1930s. It has survived the Great Depression all the way through Fremont's yuppy transformation. The Triangle is a haven for Fremonters who have lost many of their other watering holes to development and relocation. Serving really cold beer and tasty cheap treats is the secret of their success. On this rainy, summer, Friday night the place was fairly full with just regular folk, enjoying the sounds of rain and Fremont life through the large open windows, the windows of Old Fremont's soul.
